It’s been a cool and damp day across Central Texas. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms have been occurring on and off throughout the day today… And another wave of widespread rain and thunder is expected to sweep east across Central Texas as we continue through the evening. Rain chances will be ending northwest to southeast into the overnight hours. There could be a few lingering showers and some patchy fog around for Sunday morning, but drier conditions will be returning for the second half of the weekend as drier air moves in and clears us out. Rain totals when all this is said and done still look to be between the 0.5″ to an inch range - but isolated higher amounts are possible too. As a reminder - Keep an eye out for water on roadways, especially near low areas and near creeks and rivers. As the second wave of rain moves across our area, we could see some spots get upwards of 2″+ inches, but that all depends on where the bands of heavier rain sets up. Thankfully, the overall severe weather threat  is low, but we could see some spots with, of course, heavy rain, strong winds, and maybe even some small hail.

Again, we begin to dry out on Sunday. It may be gloomy and a little damp for the morning, but an additional push of cooler and drier is will be working its way through our area, so conditions will slowly improve throughout the day. You’ll want the jackets handy heading out in the morning as it’s going to get a little chilly. Morning lows Sunday will be down into the upper 40s to low 50s. Some sunshine will gradually begin to come out throughout the day, but breezy northeast winds will keep us chilly for the rest of the day. Highs on Sunday look to warm into the low to mid 60s for most, but some could climb into the upper 60s depending on how much sun shines by the afternoon. Skies will continue to clear Sunday night into Monday… Those clearing skies will allow temperatures to drop even more down into the mid to upper 40s Monday morning. The new work will kick off with some unseasonably cool and pleasant weather! Afternoon highs will be in the upper 60s and low 70s with mostly sunny skies. It’s going to be a stunning start to the work week… But gradually the spring-time warmth and humidity will quickly build back in as breezy south/southeast winds return to Central Texas.

Morning temperatures jump back into the mid to upper 50s by Tuesday morning with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s for the afternoon as breezy south winds move back into Central Texas. The warm up and increase in humidity will continue every day through the work week… Which also means we’re expecting more cloud cover to return too. Highs will be back into the low to mid 80s Wednesday through Friday, and could possibly push into the mid to upper 80s by the following weekend… Morning lows will also be back into the mid 60s to around 70° throughout much of next week. Also - An upper-level storm system is forecast to head east towards the end of the week - Bringing back shower and thunderstorm chances starting Friday and possibly through next weekend.
