Staying hot and steamy for the rest of the weekend
Storm chances return late in the week
It’s been hot and steamy outside across Central Texas today, and we have another day of it tomorrow… And unfortunately, there’s not a whole lot of change in our weather pattern even as we head into the week leading up to Memorial Day Weekend. Memorial Day Weekend marks the unofficial start to summer across the nation and our weather is going to continue to feel very summer-like for the foreseeable future! Overnight into Sunday morning, some clouds will build in along with some dense fog because of all the humidity in place. It’s going to be a warm and sticky start to the day Sunday. Low temperatures will be down into the upper 60s and low 70s… But the morning clouds and fog will clear and with a full dose of sunshine in the forecast for Sunday afternoon, highs will soar back into the upper 80s to low 90s, but with all the humidity in place, feels-like temperatures will be around the mid 90s for many, and possibly some upper 90s too! As a friendly reminder, make sure you are staying hydrated and find some shade when you can!
Again, these warm, summer-like temperatures and the high humidity will be sticking around for the upcoming week. This warmer than normal weather pattern is here to stay and the humidity is too. This warmer weather is being brought to Central Texas thanks to an area of high-pressure… And because of that high, our temperatures won’t be changing much over the coming days. Every morning through next week and into Memorial Day Weekend will start out in the low to mid 70s. As far as high temperatures go during that time, highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s Monday and possibly into the low to mid 90s by Tuesday. Feels-like temperatures will likely be around the mid 90s Monday and around 100° on Tuesday! The forecast will stay dry for Monday and Tuesday, but there are some signs of our next shot at rain and storms moving in Wednesday and Thursday of next week.
With more cloud cover around Wednesday, highs will drop down a few degrees, but will still be warmer than normal into the upper 80s to low 90s with feels-like temperatures around the mid to upper 90s! Thursday looks to be the best day for rain and storms in Central Texas and there could be some severe weather mixed in too. Models are not in good agreement with the timing of the system and how much rain could fall in our area, but there’s the potential that we could see some heavy rainfall, maybe around half an inch to an inch and a half, but widespread flooding may not be an issue. Forecast models continue to keep some isolated late day rain chances around for Memorial Day Weekend, but once again, models are not in good agreement with those rain chances for the holiday weekend. Right now, it does not look like Memorial Day Weekend will be a washout, but we’ll monitor the forecast closely… It’s still a bit too early for all the specifics on our rain and storm chance so we’ll continue to keep you updated! For now, enjoy the quiet and storm-free weather, but make sure you find those ways to stay cool!
