Triple digit temperatures returned across Central Texas Wednesday afternoon - Actually making today the hottest day of the year… So far! This now makes 5 100-degree days for Waco, 3 in Temple, and 8 in Killeen! Unfortunately, temperatures look like they’ll be even hotter as we head into our Friday eve. Thursday morning will start out clear and quiet with temperatures only down into the upper 70s and with light winds and ample sunshine, we can expect to see afternoon highs reach between 101° to 105°! There’s been a Heat Advisory in place across all of Central Texas Wednesday and it repeats again on Thursday through 9PM. Feels-like temperatures for Thursday afternoon will likely reach up between 104° to 108° across the majority of Central Texas! Continue to keep safe in this heat and remember to stay hydrated and out of the sun and inside with A/C as much as possible.

Now, there’s not a whole lot of change in the forecast as we head into the weekend, BUT temperatures do look to get a little “cooler”, and by “cooler”, I mean back down into the upper 90s to around the century mark Friday and into the weekend. Overall, you most likely will not notice the temperature change, but the drop in temperatures will be brought to us by another front that approaches from the north. This boundary may be enough to spark up a few light showers on Friday and possible on Saturday too, but most will NOT see rain, and those that do can expect only trace amounts to accumulate. Unfortunately, humidity levels will be on the rise this weekend and into next week - So you can definitely expect it to feel HOT and STEAMY for the foreseeable future. Looking ahead to next week’s forecast, we’ll likely continue to see highs in the low 100s daily with morning lows in the upper 70s and afternoon heat index values look to be closer to the 105° mark. We also unfortunately do not see any signs of a significant pattern change or a weather system to bring us some rainfall… So for right now, keep safe in the heat as we are truly in the dog days of summer!
