A few showers and thunderstorms have been firing up across Central Texas Friday afternoon. Our end of the week rain chances were brought to us by a “cold” front… Now of course, this front has not done anything to our temperatures unfortunately, but it has brought a few lucky Central Texans some rain, and this time of the year we will always welcome that! Rain chances will remain very hit and miss, so most will not see rain for the rest of our Friday, so consider yourself lucky if you do. There’s the possibility for a stray stronger thunderstorm that could produce heavy rain and gusty winds, but the overall severe weather threat looks low for Central Texas. Rain chances fade with the setting sun and we’re in for a quiet overnight period. Into the overnight hours, we’ll keep partly cloudy skies with temperatures dropping down into the mid 70s for Saturday morning.

For Saturday, we’ll have to watch the showers and thunderstorms that’ll move out of the Texas Panhandle. The better chance for those storms will likely stay to our northwest for the morning, but models are hinting on a few showers and non-severe storms sliding into Central Texas throughout the day tomorrow. Most of the activity is forecast to fizzle out before it moves into our area, but the remnant energy from that activity could kick off a few isolated showers and storms during the afternoon hours. Storm chances are only near 20% since the coverage should be isolated. As far as temperatures go for Saturday afternoon, we should stay in the mid 90s to around 100°, but with all the humidity in place, which is fuel for thunderstorms, we’ll likely feel much hotter. Feels-like temperatures Saturday afternoon will likely be between 102° and 107°! Make sure to stay hydrated while spending time outdoors this weekend!

Sadly, rain chances get completely removed from the forecast as we start the new week… And as rain chances go away, we’ll start to see those temperatures warming right back up. Morning lows every single day next week will start out in the upper 70s and afternoon highs will warm up each day as well. We’ll start the work week off with highs around 100°, but we’ll likely see temperatures warm up to 103° by the end of the week and into the weekend. South winds are forecast for the area next week as well, which means humidity levels will remain elevated… And with the high humidity, we’ll likely feel 105° or hotter every afternoon next week. For the time being, there’s no significant weather pattern change heading our way to kick out this summer heat, so continue to keep safe in this heat and remember to stay hydrated and out of the sun and inside with A/C as much as possible.
