Most miss out on rain today, but a few lucky Central Texans could see some rainfall this afternoon
But unfortunately there’s no heat relief heading our way
Happy weekend everyone! Hopefully you were one of the lucky few that saw some much needed rainfall on Friday. There’s some good news as we made our way into the weekend. We have another day with rain in the forecast, which is today! Now for your Saturday, we’re watching showers and thunderstorms that are moving out of the Texas Panhandle this morning. Now, more than likely, the better chance for those storms will stay to our northwest for today, but models are hinting on a few showers and non-severe storms sliding into Central Texas throughout the day. Although rain chances aren’t as high as they are to our north, the remnant energy from that activity and Friday’s activity could kick off a few isolated showers and storms during the afternoon hours today. Storm chances are only near 20% since the coverage should be isolated. The best chance to see a few of these hit and miss showers/thundershowers will likely be near and west of I-35. As far as temperatures go for this afternoon, we should stay in the mid 90s to around 100°, but with all the humidity in place, which is fuel for thunderstorms, we’ll likely feel much hotter. Feels-like temperatures for your Saturday afternoon will likely be between 102° and 107°! Make sure to stay hydrated while spending time outdoors this weekend!
Sadly, rain chances get completely removed from the forecast as we start the new week… And as rain chances go away, we’ll start to see those temperatures warming right back up. Morning lows every single day next week will start out in the upper 70s and afternoon highs will warm up each day as well. We’ll start the work week off with highs around 100°, but we’ll likely see temperatures warm up to 103° by the end of the week and into next weekend. South winds are forecast for the area next week as well, which means humidity levels will remain elevated… And with the high humidity, we’ll likely feel 105° or hotter every afternoon next week and could feel as hot as 110° by the end of next week! For the time being, there’s no significant weather pattern change heading our way to kick out this summer heat, so continue to keep safe in this heat and remember to stay hydrated and out of the sun and inside with A/C as much as possible.
