Weather Will Likely Stay Quiet The Next 7 Days In Central Texas!
After an eventful start to the work week - the weather is quiet again! A return to the average August temperatures is expected throughout the rest of the work week and into next weekend. This means temperatures will slowly climb back into the upper 90’s (roughly around the 98° mark) without a hint of rain in sight. This is all thanks to the high pressure ridge continuing to build back in overhead through the next few days, as the warm sinking air associated with the high pressure ridge is enough to displace any moisture that could potentially precipitate.

The peak of the heat will likely come around Thursday and Friday, but we are only talking about a matter of a few degrees difference. Upper 90’s on Friday won’t feel much different compared to the mid 90’s next weekend, as the heat index is still expected to be in the triple digits thanks to the humidity.

Meanwhile, the tropics have been busy, especially in the Atlantic basin. Nothing is expected to impact the Gulf Coast anytime soon, but there area few areas of note - Tropical Storm Dexter remains a “fish storm” over the open ocean, while another disturbance behind Dexter has been given a 40% chance of tropical development in the next 7 days. It is more likely that this disturbance will stay over the open ocean as well. The one area of concern worth keeping tabs on is near the African west coast: another tropical wave is expected to get moving in an environment favorable for development, and has a 50% chance in the next 7 days. It is too early to determine it’s direct path, but it will be worth keeping an eye on to see how it develops.
