Heat Advisory Until Saturday Night, Scattered Rain Chances Continue
Gulf Moisture Fuels Heat And Humidity For Most, Rain Chances For Some
FIRST ALERT: It will be hot and humid (again) this weekend! A Heat Advisory will remain in place for areas along and east of I-35 until Saturday at 8 PM. We would not be surprised if this advisory gets extended in the days beyond, as the latest weather data is continuing to suggest heat index values right around the 105° mark through early next week. So, make sure you are drinking plenty of water and staying cool this weekend! Good news is, a few areas in Central Texas may also be treated to some spotty relief, as the rain chances continue as well.

While Erin did become the first hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic season, Erin is not expected to bring any major impacts to the U.S. east coast. You can learn more about Hurricane Erin and what is going on in the tropics by following this link here.
On the other hand, a tropical disturbance in the Gulf, just off the Texas coast is no longer expected to develop into anything more than what it already is - but it will continue to funnel more atmospheric moisture into Central Texas.

This is a key player in the heat and humidity this weekend, but also a big part of our scattered rain chances. A few isolated showers cannot be ruled out (especially in our southern counties) from now through early next week. So yes, it will be hot and humid for most, but a lucky few could be treated to some isolated downpours. Temperatures this weekend will still hover in the upper 90’s with a heat index around 105° (give or take a few degrees).

The rain chances don’t stop there! In fact, we have more rain chances all the way through the end of the next work week. By Wednesday and Thursday, a trough will likely develop that might push a weaker “cold” front into Central Texas. This will only drop our temperatures a few degrees (we will go from upper 90’s to lower 90’s), but could also fuel more rain chances mid to late next week. The best chances will come Wednesday and Thursday, as the front slowly moves into Central Texas.
