You already know that it is going to be sunny and warm for the next few days, but did you know that we have started to see some drought conditions settle in again, DESPITE a yearly rainfall surplus (a surplus of 3.58 inches)? Yep - that is how dry it has been not just to start October, but within the last month. Central Texas has only had ONE day of significant rainfall in the last 33! Needless to say, we need some rain, and unfortunately we don’t have any of that in the forecast either.

Most of the area is settled with abnormally dry conditions, however there are some moderate to severe drought conditions taking shape in our southern counties (mainly near Williamson and Milam). If we don’t get any rain in the area anytime soon, we risk seeing these conditions expand even further to the north.

As a result, a number of burn bans have been put in place across the area that you can see listed on the above map. If your county is highlighted in red, you are under a burn ban.

Otherwise, if you ignore the fact that we haven’t had much rain for the last month (lets hope this changes!) the forecast doesn’t look half bad. Fairgoers will be treated to temperatures in the 70’s and 80’s tonight. It is also School Coupon and College Night, so take advantage of those promotions!!

We are still looking at some comfortable temperatures going into Saturday morning. As you can see, these upper 50/lower 60 degree temperatures won’t last for long. It will also be a bit breezy on Sunday, with winds out of the south at 10 to 20 miles per hour. This is also a slight concern - if we get some more windy days in the forecast combined with the dry weather we have already been experiencing, fire danger could become a more prevalent issue. For now though, enjoy the unseasonably warm weather, and hope we get some rain soon!
