We are FOUR DAYS AWAY from Christmas Day - today was the first official day of Winter - and we have forecasted high temperatures in the.....70’s and 80’s?!?!?! First day of winter...right. Anyway, regardless of what the forecast says, today (Sunday, December 21st) really and truly was the first day of the winter season. It has been slightly cooler than the record breaking temperatures Central Texas saw on Saturday, but we go right back to those 70’s starting Monday. In fact, there is a high probability that these afternoon highs will stay in the upper 70’s and 80’s all the way through next weeekend, so prepare yourself for a very warm Christmas!

After all of the warmth Central Texas is set to experience this week, there is a glimmer of hope for a cool down and some slight rain at the end of next weekend. This is still a week or so away, but there is a small chance that our next cold front will arrive in Central Texas by next Sunday morning (December 28th). This could also bring some light showers along with it, so we have added a 20% chance to next Sunday, and brought the temperature for next week down into the 60’s. This does not appear to be a washout, but there is at least that little bit of hope for some precipitation in Central Texas before the year is out!
