Flooding concerns for Saturday
Today’s Weather: Expect scattered showers and a few thunderstorms across Central Texas again today. An additional 1 to 3 inches of rain is likely—and in some spots under the Flood Watch ( Bell, McLennan, Bosque, Coryell, Lampasas, & Williamson Counties), totals could hit 4 to 6 inches. That much rain in a short time could lead to localized flooding, especially since these areas already picked up 1–3 inches yesterday.
The storms today may move slowly due to a very moist atmosphere, which increases the risk of heavy rain piling up in a short time. While forecast models haven’t been totally consistent, the ingredients are there for some downpours.
Sunday & Monday: Rain chances will drop a bit starting Sunday, mainly sticking around the western part of the area. Monday will likely be even drier as the weather pattern shifts.
Next Week: A much drier and hotter trend is setting up. With a high-pressure ridge building, temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 90s, and even low 100s in some spots by late week. With the lingering humidity, it’ll feel even hotter—heat index values could easily push 105+ degrees, so heat advisories might be needed by Thursday or Friday.
