A tropical wave that has moved across the Gulf over the last few days will bring the potential for spotty showers and thunderstorms the rest of today and throughout the weekend. The best timeframe to see these showers will be during the afternoon and early evening, with most of the rain chances dropping off quickly after sunset.

Most of us likely won’t see much rain this weekend, and these showers will be very “hit-or-miss”. We don’t anticipate any severe weather with this activity, but due to all of the tropical moisture moving in, we could see some pockets of locally heavy rainfall. Luckily, thanks to us only see spotty coverage of rain, we are not anticipate any flooding concerns.

Thanks to the extra clouds and these spotty showers, the temperatures won’t be as hot as we have seen the last few days. It will be rather muggy, so we still expect to see afternoon heat index values top out around 100° both Saturday and Sunday. As we head into next the high pressure will build back in, leading to temperatures climbing back to near 100° by midweek.
