A stalled front and upper-level system are keeping some showers and storm chances around this weekend. Storms should stay below severe levels but could bring brief downpours, lightning, and gusty winds.

Saturday and Sunday we are only looking at a small 20% chance for some isolated showers, mainly during the afternoon hours. As the day goes on, the front will push farther south, shifting rain chances south and east. Things start drying out late today, and tonight looks quiet with lows in the upper 60s to mid 70s.

Two clusters of overnight rain chances will need to be monitored through the weekend: one tonight and another Sunday night into Monday morning. Most of the rain dies out before getting here tomorrow morning. The storms coming from the northwest Sunday night into Monday morning has a slightly better chance of holding together and starting Monday off with some rain.

High temperatures won’t be too bad for this time of year, with highs in the mid 90s, but the elevated heat index values will push heat index values over 100° for many of us. Starting Tuesday, we flip the script—high pressure returns, the rain shuts off, and the heat cranks up. Expect highs in the upper 90s to low 100s by mid-to-late week, with heat index values soaring between 100° and 107° through next weekend.
