We have a cold front that will move through Central Texas today. It will change our weather for Sunday in a big way, but today we are still warm and muggy. We have a lot of Gulf moisture ahead of the front and that helps to fire up scattered showers and storms starting early in the west, then spreading across the region throughout the day. Rain won’t last long—everything should move out by sunset. Rainfall totals will generally stay under half an inch due to the fast-moving nature of the system. There’s a low chance, but a few storms could become strong to marginally severe, especially east of I-35. The main threats are gusty winds and hail, but the tornado risk looks very low.

Tonight, the main cold front will move in behind the storms overnight, with north winds gusting up to 30–40 mph. Temps will take a big dip—dropping into the 50s by Sunday morning. Fall-feel makes an appearance tomorrow! Expect cool, breezy conditions with highs only in the 70s and lows dropping into the 40s and 50s by Sunday night.

Don’t get too comfy in the taste of Fall just yet, because Monday brings another big weather swing. A strong ridge builds in, and southwest winds could gust up to 40 mph. That’ll push highs back into the mid-80s to mid-90s, especially west of I-35. Fire danger will be elevated due to the dry, windy conditions both Monday and Tuesday.

Another cold front moves in Monday night, bringing quieter, mild weather Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the 70s–80s and cool nights. A gradual warmup follows by late week, and we might see some light rain Friday.
