Even though it’s a sunny Sunday, temperatures will only top out in the 70s to near 80 today, finally giving us that real autumn feel. Soak it up because we have some big weather swings in the next few days. Monday is back to hot temperatures as we soar back into the 90s.

Monday brings a quick warm-up. Winds will shift to the south and southwest, picking up speed with gusts possibly hitting 40 mph. The fire danger rises, especially west of I-35, due to the dry air and strong winds for Monday and Tuesday.

That heat won’t last long, though. Another cold front arrives Monday night into early Tuesday, cooling things right back down. Highs Tuesday and Wednesday will stay in the 80s, with lows dipping back into the 50s.

Looking ahead to the end of the week, moisture from the Gulf starts moving in on Thursday ahead of a slow-moving upper low. This will bring a chance of showers and storms, with rain chances increasing Thursday night and peaking on Friday.
