Quiet and warm weekend before wetter weather settles in
Today looks pretty quiet across Central Texas as high pressure stays dominant. What that means for us is our afternoons this weekend will be warm with highs in the mid to upper 80s. We’ll also see a southwest breeze today, with gusts around 20–30 mph until sunset. Take advantage of the sunny and quiet weather this weekend, because we have some big weather pattern changes coming next week.
As we start the new week, the weather pattern gets a lot more active. Monday still looks to be quiet but it will be cloudier, warm, and humid.
Our best chance for widespread rain looks to be in the Wednesday to Thursday timeframe when the main system arrives. Forecast confidence drops a bit for the second half of the week, but.... right now we have seen rain chances trending upwards. Latest guidance puts rainfall totals at 2–4 inches. Timing the heaviest rain is still tricky, but with so much moisture in place, flooding will be a concern. As for severe storms, the risk is uncertain because wind shear looks weak and there may be lots of competing storms limiting intensity.
Bottom line: expect a calm weekend with a warm and muggy Monday followed by a wetter, more unsettled stretch next week. Keep an eye on updates—details may shift as we get closer.
