Storms roll in tonight and Monday
sweater weather for turkey day
Clouds are on the rise today as we watch our next rainmaker that sits to the west. These storms will spread eastward this evening and eventually find their way into Central Texas late tonight/early Monday. For areas west of I-35 we are watching our for the risk of some hail, gusty winds, and locally heavy rain as storms start to move in the pre-dawn hours of Monday.
Rainfall totals through Sunday and Monday could reach 1-3″ across North Texas but our totals look smaller in Central Texas, with about 0.5-1.5″expected.
Monday the storm system continues its trek eastward, which will help to trigger more showers and storms into the afternoon and early evening. These storms carry the potential for large hail, damaging winds, and even a low tornado threat as instability and wind shear increase. By late Monday night, the storms and rain should move out and we have much quieter weather for the rest of the week.
A strong, dry cold front will push through Tuesday into Wednesday, bringing much cooler temperatures for Thanksgiving: lows in the 30s and highs only in the upper 50s to low 60s. Perfect for cozy clothes and turkey!
Looking toward the end of the week, another disturbance may bring more rain as we close out November, but details will become clearer as we get closer.
