Gov. Abbott says he will impose 100% tariffs on anyone moving from New York City to Texas
(KWTX) - Governor Greg Abbott announced on social media that as soon as the polls close, he will be putting a % 100% tariff on anyone moving from New York City to Texas.
“After the polls close tomorrow night, I will impose a 100% tariff on anyone moving to Texas from NYC,” Abbott wrote on X.

Zohran Mamdani was recently elected mayor of New York City on Tuesday.
Mamdani promised to transform the government to restore power to the working class and fight back against a hostile Trump administration.
He will become New York’s youngest mayor in more than a century and the first Muslim mayor when he takes office on Jan. 1.
According to CBS News, the Governor’s office responded and said, “He was just joking on the assumption that people would want to move if Mamdani is in fact elected.”
