GATESVILLE, Texas (KWTX) - Gatesville ISD is honoring two students and one staff member for rushing to help a Robinson football player after suffering from a head injury during a game in October 2025.

Trevor Gerik, 15, a middle linebacker for Robinson’s junior varsity team, suffered the injury right after halftime as the Rockets took on the Gatesville Hornets in Gatesville.

Gatesville ISD says student athletic trainers Ethan Arther and Callie Smith both showed amazing composure and awareness during this scary situation.

“Seeing that the player was seriously injured, they both immediately jumped into action,” Gatesville ISD said.

The district stated that both students ensured all necessary equipment was nearby and ready to use if needed.

“Additionally, junior high nurse Stephanie Streetman’s training and instincts kicked in immediately. She took control of the situation and made sure that the student athlete was stable until paramedics arrived,” the district said.

Gatesville ISD said the parents of the Robinson player have expressed their sincere appreciation to everyone.

“Please help us honor Ethan, Callie, and Mrs. Streetman,” Gatesville ISD said.
