WACO, Texas (KWTX) - TxDOT and its contractor announced it will start new projects in Mart, Texas and Waco, Texas that will upgrade pedestrian infrastructure.

The Mart project will begin on Monday, December 1 and includes constructing sidewalks, crosswalks, and ramps.

TxDOT says the improvements will be on S. Carpenter Street from SH 164 to E. Bowie Street and then to S. Lumpkin Street.

“The new improvements will enhance pedestrian travel for residents. The nearly $1 million project will be undertaken by TI-ZACK,” TxDOT said.

TxDOT says the project in Mart is anticipated to be completed in early 2026.

TxDOT said it will also start a project on Valley Mills Drive next month in Waco.

This project will construct new pedestrian facilities and upgrade ADA infrastructure, including sidewalks, curb ramps and pedestrian signal upgrades.

The project will span from Bagby Ave. to US 84 and is scheduled to be completed in the Summer of 2026.

TxDOT says there will be various closures to outside shoulders and existing sidewalks during the project.

The $2.7 million project will be undertaken by TI-ZACK.
