Killeen PD investigating fatal early morning shooting

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - The Killeen Police Department is investigating the death of a 22-year-old female following a shooting early Wednesday morning.
On November 26, 2025, around 2:02 a.m., officers were sent to the 1900 block of Monte Carlo Lane in reference to two people who were shot.
Upon arrival, officers found an unconscious female and a conscious male inside the home.
Killeen Fire EMS arrived and provided life-saving measures to both victims, according to Killeen PD.
The 26-year-old male victim was taken to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple with non-life-threatening injuries. He has been treated and released, police say.
The female victim, identified as Tai’Lynn Akaya Wright, was pronounced dead at 2:47 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Nicola James at the scene, who ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Killeen PD says the preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were inside the home when an unknown person fired a weapon from outside toward the residence.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division are actively investigating this case and police say this appears to be an isolated incident.
