LORENA, Texas (KWTX) - Police are investigating after a person of interest led police on a chase that reached 130 mph in Lorena.

Wednesday morning at 1:40 a.m., authorities attempted to stop a vehicle on IH 35 for a traffic infraction.

Police say the vehicle did not stop and a pursuit began, reaching speeds exceeding 130 mph.

The pursuit continued southbound on IH35 into Bell County, police say.

“As in any pursuit, the involved officer must continuously evaluate the need for the pursuit vs. the risk to all involved. Based on the circumstances and assessment by Officer Cannizaro, the pursuit was terminated near the 292-mile post,” Chef Holt said.

A person of interest has been identified, and this case remains active, according to Lorena PD.
