Woodway Public Safety Department Captain discovers vehicle fire, saves nearby home, trees

WOODWAY, Texas (KWTX) - Woodway Public Safety Department says Capt. Nolan Schaffer discovered a vehicle fire on Wednesday morning and saved the nearby home and surrounding trees.
The Department says Schaffer was driving and noticed smoke in the distance on December 3, 2025.
After further investigation, he found a vehicle fire that had not been discovered yet off Old McGregor.
The department says that due to his proactive policing, the nearby home and trees were saved and the adjacent fence only got a little crispy.
“Wanted to give a shoutout to Schaffer for going above and beyond for our community, a zero-second response time is as good as you can get!” the department said.
