MEMPHIS, Tennessee – Baylor’s time in the NCAA tournament has come to an end.

No. 6 Clemson defeated No.3 Baylor 72-64 to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. The Bears have now lost in the round of 32 three years in a row.

Shots were not falling for the Bears early, and defensively the Tigers were not allowing open looks. Baylor went 8-24 in the early-goings. In the matchup against Colgate, the Bears had gone 19-30 at halftime.

Clemson went into the half up 35-25.

Heading into the second half, the Tigers held their momentum. Clemson’s biggest lead of the day was 15. Chase Hunter led the way in scoring for the Tigers, ending the day with 20.

Ja’Kobe Walter and RayJ Dennis put the team on their backs in the final six minutes of regulation. After not holding the lead for the entire game, the Bears came storming back to make it a 66-64 ballgame.

With 36 seconds remaining, Walter went to the line with the opportunity to tie things up and potentially send the game to overtime.

Walter missed both shots, and Clemson was able to escape with the win.

Walter and Dennis combined for 47.

Clemson will face Arizona in the Sweet Sixteen.
