Texas DPS holds 12th annual state trooper competition in Florence

FLORENCE, Texas (KWTX) – The Texas Department of Public Safety began day one of the Javier Arana Jr. Top Trooper Competition on Tuesday, April 23.
The event is named after the fallen trooper who passed away shortly after placing third in the first year of the event in 2012.
The competition consists of physical challenges, gun range accuracy challenges and vehicle challenges.
Troopers from across the state volunteered to take part in the event.
Top male and female participants will be presented the Javier Arana Jr. Top Trooper Award on Friday, April 26.
