Waco Salvation Army seeking holiday bell ringers
WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The Salvation Army in Waco is preparing for its annual Red Kettle Campaign kicking off on November 8, and they need people to volunteer as bell ringers.
The Red Kettle Campaign is the Salvation Army’s largest fundraising initiative. Last year, the organization raised $180,000.
These funds are raised from people donating to the red kettle buckets that can be found outside many businesses during the holiday season. The money raised provides services to those in need throughout the year. These services include shelter programs, food assistance programs, emergency financial programs and more.
“We are taking individuals, families, groups anybody that wants to come out,” said Major Jeff Miracle, Corps Officer for the Waco Salvation Army. “Everybody who comes out and rings needs to know that the money we raise here in Waco stays to help people right here in Waco.”
The campaign will run from November 8 through December 24. To volunteer as a bell ringer, people can visit the Salvation Army Family Thrift Store at 4721 W. Waco Drive or go to www.registertoring.com. The smallest available volunteer slot is two hours, but people can sign up for as much time as they would like.
To celebrate the beginning of the Red Kettle Campaign, the Salvation Army is also hosting a holiday kickoff event at On The Border in Waco all day on October 29. By mentioning the Salvation Army at checkout, a portion of proceeds will go towards helping people in the Waco area.
