WACO, Texas (KWTX) - BrickUniverse kicked off it’s Ultimate Lego Fan Experience on Saturday, March 15, at the Extraco Event Center in Waco.

The event kicked off at 10 a.m. on Saturday and will wrap up at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 16.

The fan experience featured Lego art from professional and local creators, hands-on building zones where people could create their own masterpieces, and vendors selling new Lego sets as well as some that have been retired for years.

“It’s been pretty cool,” said Cooper Evans, a long-time Lego fan who was in attendance. “Bunch of different specialty Lego sets and ones that really aren’t sold anymore especially some from the 1970s. That’s pretty epic.”

Fans also had the opportunity to meet some of their favorite artists such as Lia Chan, who specializes in NASA-themed Lego art.

Chan said she wants her artwork to help teach young people about STEM.

“I’m getting the chance to talk to a lot of the kids and inspire them to start building,” Chan said. “Also get them into engineering. Basically, STEM since my stuff is science, NASA and space related.”

Since 2014, BrickUniverse has held over 100 events like this one in cities across the country.

Event Organizer Roland Beights said the biggest goal of these events is to encourage people to express themselves through Legos and create positive memories.

“Lego is an artform,” Beights said. “That’s out biggest goal at BrickUniverse that you can use Legos as a form of therapy, as a form of expression, and we just want people to be encouraged, and create memories at these kinds of events.”

This event is part of BrickUniverse’s 2025 Imagine Tour.

Tickets for Sunday can be purchased online at BrickUniverseUSA.com or at the door.
