Robinson PD officer retiring after 34 years with department

ROBINSON, Texas (KWTX) – The Robinson Police Department is saying goodbye to its longest serving officer after 34 years.

Community members came together on Wednesday, April 9, to celebrate Lt. Tracy O’Connor who is retiring after 37 years in law enforcement, 34 of those with the Robinson Police Department.

O’Connor has served in multiple capacities during his time in Robinson, including as Interim Police Chief on two separate occasions. He has also received numerous awards during his career including the Life Saving Award, which is given to an officer who performs an act that directly results in saving someone’s life.

O’Connor’s impact on Robinson was evident. After the ceremony, the line to speak with him and wish him well in retirement was out the door. O’Connor took the time to speak with everyone who lined up.

When asked why he chose to stay in Robinson for so many years, O’Connor said it was the community that kept him around.

“The people are great, the City of Robinson is a great town,” O’Connor said. “It was just an honor to serve our community.”
