UPDATE: Teen arrested in killing of 36-year-old Waco, Texas man

WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The Waco Police Dept. on July 23 announced a 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged with murder in the May 2025 killing of Rondal Smith.
Officers responded to the 5100 block of Hawthorne Drive around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, to investigate the murder.
Police said the late-night shooting left the 36-year-old Smith dead and sent another wounded teenaged boy to the hospital.
A day after the shooting, police said the wounded teenager was in stable condition.
Police said the juvenile charged in the shooting is being transported to the McLennan County Juvenile Detention Center and his name will not be released at this time.
