Killeen ISD students surprised by parents returning from military deployment
KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) — Two Killeen ISD elementary students were reunited with their parents this week as the service members returned from military deployment.
Ameena, a student at Nolanville Elementary, was surprised when her father returned home from military service earlier this week.
Sofia, a student at Pershing Park Elementary, was called to the stage during lunch Friday by her principal. Her mother, who had returned from deployment, was waiting behind the curtain.
“These are the moments we in Killeen ISD love to be a part of,” Ruth Lake, campus instructional specialist at Pershing Park Elementary School said. “It’s a true benefit of serving a community that serves our nation.”
The district welcomed the returning service members home.
