Hillsboro animal control officer no longer employed with city after incident

HILLSBORO, Texas (KWTX) — The City of Hillsboro’s animal control officer is no longer employed with the city following an incident that occurred Dec. 18.
The city confirmed the employment termination in a news release Friday. Officials said they are reviewing the matter and have advised the County Attorney’s Office.
Animal control responsibilities will be shared with other team members while the review continues, according to the release.
“The City of Hillsboro’s Animal Control program will continue to promote community health and safety by enforcing local animal control ordinances, humanely capturing and managing stray or dangerous animals, investigating animal cruelty, and responding to wildlife conflicts,” officials said.
The city did not provide details about the nature of the Dec. 18 incident.
