‘An exciting day’: Waco ISD holds dedication ceremony for new state-of-the-art Kendrick Elementary School
The new Kendrick Elementary School is located at 1801 Kendrick Lane.
WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The Waco Independent School District on Sept. 15 hosted a dedication ceremony for the new Kendrick Elementary School campus.
During its ceremony, the school district showcased the modern, innovative learning environment where future generations of students will be educated.
The $47-million investment was part of the wider $355-million bond approved by voters in 2021 to renovate and build new schools at Waco ISD.
Monday’s ceremony featured remarks from district leaders, students, and community members, followed by a tour of the new facilities.
“It’s just an exciting day to be able to share our beautiful building with the community, it means so much,” said Kendrick Elementary Principal Isabel Lozano, “Our library is beautiful, our soccer fields, that’s what our students wanted and they also requested swings on the playground, they just love when they get to go outside.”
“This school belongs to all of us, parents, teachers, neighbors and friends. Together we will fill it with learning, laughter and love,” said Kendrick Elementary Assistant Principal Diana Guajardo, “Every voice, every smile, every small step forward will echo through these halls and shape the future of our community.”
Groundbreaking for Kendrick Elementary at 1801 Kendrick Lane was held on March 28, 2024.
The two-story campus replaces the 1952 facility and opened for the 2025-2026 school year on Aug. 13, 2025.
