Residents of Waco assisted living home stay active with Balloon volleyball
WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Residents at Asher Point Independent Living aren’t sitting on the sidelines.
Every Wednesday at 3 p.m. you will find a competitive round of Balloon Volleyball.
Each week, more than a dozen residents, ages 70 to 75, gather to keep the balloon in the air, rack up points, and enjoy a bit of friendly rivalry.
“Our residents take this game seriously,” said Sarah Fults, Divisional Director of Sales and Marketing of Asher Point Independent Living of Waco. “They reach for the balloon, cheer for each other, and walk away smiling. It’s fun to see them take part in something they look forward to every week.”
The weekly session blends light exercise with a playful challenge, offering residents a way to stay active and enjoy time together.
Staying active as an elder provides many benefits to their health and wellbeing. Balloon volleyball offers great exercise opportunities to help build joint health and stronger core in your body.
“Everybody does play sitting in their chair but, they are reaching and leaning so they are using all their core,” says Judy Daily, Sales and Marketing Manager, “This solidifies strengthens their core being and they have fun at the same time and who knows maybe they place a bet or two on the side they don’t tell me about.”
Other residents who do not participate in the action cheer and root their friends on as the game plays on.
Asher Point Independent Living of Waco is located at 3209 Village Green Drive.
