WACO, Texas (KWTX) - AT&T and Human-I-T gave away 65 laptops to Waco students Wednesday afternoon in partnership with Transformation Waco.

The laptop distribution event for pre-selected students was designed to help bridge the digital divide in the community.

“It is such a gift to have an event like this today,” said Robin McDurham, CEO of Transformation Waco. “It is ensuring that our families often considered underserved in underserved neighborhoods have access. Our purpose is to ensure a level playing field for the students we work with and to have their own laptop is a step in the right direction.”

State Representative Pat Curry spoke to the families and helped hand out laptops.

The event is part of AT&T’s commitment to help 25 million people get connected by 2030. The company has distributed more than 23,000 computers to Texas students and families since 2021.
