WEST, Texas (KWTX) - The West Police Department will implement temporary traffic restrictions Halloween night to address traffic gridlock and protect children during trick-or-treating hours.

The traffic plan goes into effect Oct. 31 at 5 p.m., converting several streets to one-way traffic patterns. South Harrison Street will become one-way southbound from Oak Street to Tokio Road, while Marable Street will be one-way northbound from Tokio Road to Spring Street.

Davis Street will operate one-way southbound from Peach Street to Holt Street, where it curves into Marable. This year’s plan adds North Main Street as one-way southbound from Spring to Jerry Mashek.

Jane Lane closure for pedestrians only

At 5:30 p.m., Jane Lane will be closed and barricaded to pedestrian traffic only, with no vehicles allowed on the street. Residents living on Jane Lane can contact the Police Department for an escort while the street remains closed.

All West Police officers will be on duty patrolling the temporary one-way streets to ensure trick-or-treater safety and motorist compliance with the temporary signage and barricades.
