Waco community helps Virgil Bell fix car
Residents rally to repair vehicle for man who prays at intersections throughout city

WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A Waco man known for praying at busy intersections throughout the city received help from the community after his car broke down on Bosque Boulevard.
Virgil Bell has spent more than a decade praying at street corners and intersections, including near the former pedestrian bridge at Baylor University before it was demolished.
Michelle Taylor found Bell stranded due to car trouble and posted on Facebook asking for donations to help pay for repairs. Central Texas residents responded to the request.
Michael Perez, a mechanic, volunteered to work on the car.
“I’m really lost for words,” Bell said. “My, I’m very, very, very grateful. I was hoping God would send the right people and he sent people with good hearts.”
The car is now running and Bell said he feels blessed by the community’s generosity.
The city of Waco declared August 31, 2023 as Virgil Bell Day to honor his efforts of praying for the city.
