BELTON, Texas (KWTX) - Belton Parks and Recreation will hosted its first of two annual Family, Fishin’ & Fun events with the first one on Friday, Dec. 19, and the second day is set Friday, Dec. 30, giving families a chance to fish for stocked trout and for children to win prizes.

Both events will run from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Nolan Creek. During that time, fishing will be allowed without a license in the stretch of the creek between Main Street and the I-35 frontage road, officials said.

“It’s great we are a community that’s based around family right here in Belton,” said City of Belton Recreation Superintendent Adam Trujillo. " Being able to support that and give kids an outlets to get outside and take a break off the screen."

Texas Parks and Wildlife stocked Nolan Creek with trout for the events. The City of Belton will provide bait at a booth at the Landing at Creekside Park, located behind The Gin at Nolan Creek, 219 S. East St., while supplies last.

Boys and girls 12 and under are eligible to enter for a chance to win prizes. Organizers encouraged families to arrive early, as bait and prize entries are limited.

The events are part of Belton Parks and Recreation’s annual outreach to introduce young people to fishing and outdoor activities. For more information, contact Belton Parks and Recreation or visit the City of Belton’s website.
