Former Elk volunteer firefighter indicted in sexual assault of teenager

WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A former Elk volunteer firefighter who reportedly drove a firetruck while drunk to sexually assault a Bellmead teen was indicted Thursday on multiple charges.
A McLennan County grand jury indicted Kody Roberts Evans, 34, on a continuous sexual abuse of a young child count, four counts of sexual assault of a child and four counts of indecency with a child by contact.
Evans, who remains free on $50,000 bond, was arrested in August after the 15-year-old girl’s mother reported her daughter had been sexually assaulted. According to arrest records, the girl reported Evans sexually abused her from May 2023 to June 2025.
The girl was interviewed by detectives and was able to “describe several sexual assaults committed by Kody when she was 13, 14, and 15 years of age,” an arrest affidavit alleges.
Detectives also alleged that an intoxicated Evans, while serving with the Elk VFD, once drove a vehicle belonging to the department to Bellmead to sexually assault the girl.
Evans was removed from the VFD after allegedly driving the vehicle to Bellmead.
