Lacy Lakeview, Texas, man charged in online solicitation of a minor sting gets probation

WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A 29-year-old Lacy Lakeview man who thought he was meeting a 15-year-old girl for a sexual encounter was placed on seven years’ deferred probation Friday.
Visiting Judge Roy Sparkman approved Esteban Meza Aguilar’s plea agreement with the McLennan County District Attorney’s Office after Aguilar pleaded guilty in 19th State District Court to online solicitation of a minor, a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Aguilar was arrested in February after he sent a Facebook message to a detective posing as an underage girl.
“Hey, mami. Would U be interested in meeting,” Aguilar wrote the girl, according to an arrest affidavit.
The detective alleged the conversation quickly turned sexual, with Aguilar writing, “I want to (expletive) your (expletive)” before sending a photo of his genitals.
Aguilar sent the message and the photo “prior to (the detective) disclosing the minor aged female’s age,” arrest documents allege.
After he was told he was messaging a 15-year-old girl, Aguilar, according to the affidavit, wrote, “OK but you can’t tell.”
The affidavit alleges Aguilar offered to let the girl perform a sex act on him. He was told the girl would have to leave school early to meet him, and he agreed to meet her at a local park.
Aguilar told the girl he would be inside a maroon car and wanted oral sex, the document states. Aguilar then asked the girl if she wanted him to perform oral sex on her, the detective wrote in the affidavit.
When the girl asked him what else he wanted to do, Aguilar answered that “maybe” they should just (expletive), according to the complaint.
The girl then asked him if he was OK with her only being 15 years old, to which Aguilar replied, “Yes. U old enough.”
The undercover detective arrested Aguilar after he showed up at the park.
Aguilar admitted to the detective the Facebook profile that communicated with the girl belonged to him, but argued he did nothing wrong, the affidavit alleges.
In deferred probation cases, defendants can avoid felony convictions if they complete the terms and conditions of probation. However, if they fail, they are subject to the full range of punishment.
