McLennan County judge eases bond conditions for Waco homebuilder

WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A McLennan County judge softened the bond conditions Tuesday for a Waco homebuilder charged with seven counts of sexual assault and assault family violence in cases involving two alleged victims.
Alexander James Beasley, 36, who owns a Waco construction company, has been free on bonds totaling $1.4 million since his arrest in October on charges he sexually assaulted two women he previously dated.
At the time of his indictment in the two cases, Beasley was free on bond after his arrest in July on charges he physically assaulted one of the women and impeded her breathing in the bathroom of a Dallas hotel while a child was in the hotel room.
Since his second arrest, Beasley has worn a GPS ankle monitor and has been under court orders not to leave his residence.
Judge Susan Kelly of Waco’s 54th State District Court lifted the house arrest order during a hearing Tuesday but denied a motion from defense attorney Jason P. Darling to free Beasley from having to wear the ankle monitor. The judge placed Beasley under a curfew, requiring him to be home from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. as a condition of his release.
Darling argued in his motion to modify bond conditions that the house arrest restriction was causing a financial hardship for Beasley and creating problems for him to properly run his construction company and do other necessary duties like going to the bank or post office.
The house arrest order also prevented Beasley from going trick-or-treating with his daughter, Darling said.
Prosecutor Maddie Beach opposed any changes to Beasley’s bond conditions.
In granting part of Darling’s motion, Kelly noted that there are defendants in her court indicted for murder who have less restrictive bond conditions that enable them to go to work.
Beasley has a May 18, 2026, trial date in one of the two cases for which he has been indicted. One case alleges four counts of sexual assault, while the other alleges three counts of sexual assault. One of those alleged victims is the same woman Beasley reportedly assaulted at the Dallas Omni Hotel in July.
She posted photos of her injuries and described the alleged assault on social media.
In lifting the house arrest order, Kelly admonished Beasley that she would not tolerate any reported violations of his GPS monitor conditions, including straying into any exclusionary zones where he is prohibited from going or reports he failed to properly charge the monitor battery.
“I’m not babysitting any more monitors,” the judge said.
