WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A longtime vendor and single mom at the Waco Downtown Farmer’s Market is taking a step back due to a sudden stroke.

If you’ve been to the farmer’s market in Waco, you might have seen Alba Moreno, also known as the ‘Pupusa Lady’.

Moreno has been bringing authentic flavors from El Salvador to Waco in the market for the past 13 years.

Every Saturday morning, she makes pupusas by hand and cooks them so that they are hot and ready for marketgoers.

“It’s a Salvadorian dish and everybody loves my pupusas; It’s not because I say, it’s because everybody stop by my pupusas at my place, everybody tells me the same ‘I love your pupusas in the whole Waco, I can’t try no pupusas like your pupusas’, it makes me happy,” Moreno said.

Sadly, around a month ago she suffered a stroke, and now has a heart monitor on her to track her health at all times.

“I’m so scared, I’m so nervous I try to walk my best, but I’m shaking too much I don’t have a strong leg no more,” Moreno explained.

Moreno hasn’t been back at the market since and says she misses her market family.

She says her only wish is to get better and get back to the farmer’s market and serve the customers she loves.

“Wait for me, I’m going to come back I promise, for Jesus I’m going to come back, wait for me right there... don’t leave me,” Moreno said filled with emotion.
