Waco’s Mitch Guerra to run NYC marathon in support of cancer nonprofit
WACO, Texas (KWTX) — Mitch Guerra, a Waco native and recent contestant on “Survivor,” is now channeling his energy into a new challenge: the New York City Marathon.
Guerra is running to raise money for Imerman Angels, a nonprofit organization that provides one-on-one support to cancer patients by connecting them with others who have experienced similar battles.
“That helps people that have gone through cancer or are going through cancer by partnering them up with people who have also been impacted by cancer,” Guerra said.
“So I get to do the New York City Marathon and by raising money for this organization, I truly get to have a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
Guerra says none of this would be possible without the support of his family, friends and the Waco community.
He says he’s proud to represent his hometown as he runs for a cause that means so much to him.
“I am so excited about this incredible opportunity to help raise money for an incredible organization,” he said.
