Temple Police Department holds third annual donation drive for survivors of domestic violence
TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) - October is domestic violence awareness month and the Temple Police Department held their third annual donation drive for survivors.
They accepted everything from food, hygiene products and clothes. Another thing that goes a long way for families in crisis are gift cards that can be used for gas or groceries. Organizers also say that HOT bus passes have also been a great need.
Lisa Hatfield is the crime victim liaison for the department and she says they keep bringing the donation drive back because it allows them to give back to the organizations that support their survivors.
If you weren’t able to swing by for the event, you still are able to help.
Donations can be dropped off year round at the Temple Police Department, located at 209 E. Avenue A, and those donations are split up between several organizations across Bell County that help victims of domestic violence.
If you aren’t able to stop by the department, you can help by ordering from this Amazon wish list and those items will be sent directly to the department.
