‘We’re beyond packed’: Harris Creek Church announces $30 million expansion
The expansion includes a 3,000-seat worship venue designed to accommodate the growing congregation, with an estimated completion date of December 2027
MCGREGOR, Texas (KWTX) - Harris Creek Church in McGregor, Texas, announced plans to make $29 million in renovations, including a new 3,000-seat auditorium for their Sunday service.
Head Pastor Jonathan Pokluda said overflow rooms are frequently used after the 1,100 seats in the current main auditorium fill up.
“We’re putting people in hallways and anywhere we can find space,” Pokluda said.
It can be a weekly challenge for congregants to find a seat in the main auditorium.
“To fight the traffic, people will get here early and save seats inside,” Congregant Madden Pearce said. “That’s a typical Sunday morning.”
The church asked for congregants to Save a Seat with a $7,000 donation.
“We came to the conclusion that adding an auditorium would be the best way to serve this community in this space,” Pokluda said.
Harris Creeks’ executive pastor, Jonathan Passavant, hopes the expansion will help cut down on the traffic on Sundays.
“What that will do is enable the traffic flows and the people we can have on a Sunday,” Passavant said. “It’ll increase that so we can serve the whole city in ways that we have been but now will be able to do more effectively.”
Donations can be made on their website.
Harris Creek plans to break ground on the project in 2026. They expect construction on the new auditorium in Dec. of 2027.
