WACO, Texas (KWTX) - On Sunday 4 scouts with Baylor University’s own Troop 497 earned Scouting America’s Highest Rank.

In a special ceremony, presided over by Congressman Pete Sessions, Trenton Nemec, Garrett Sulak, Clark Walsh, and Mark Hall were awarded the Eagle Scout Rank.

  • Trenton Nemec completed his Eagle project benefiting Mission Waco’s Men’s Recovery Home, improving facilities that serve men rebuilding their lives.
  • Garrett Sulak partnered with No Child Sleeps on the Floor in My Town to organize and fund a bed build, providing beds for children in need.
  • Clark Wash created a large-print Free Little Library and seating area in Hewitt, designed for senior adults and the visually impaired.
  • Mark Hall designed and built a new storage system for instruments, uniforms, and music for the Midway High School Band Backers, benefiting the school’s award-winning marching band.

Troop 497 says this is a huge achievement earned through hard work, leadership, and service.

In fact, fewer than 2% of all scouts nationwide achieve this distinction.

However, since the troops founding in 1988, 165 scouts have become Eagle Scouts... that number now rising to 169.
