Charlie Kirk’s pastor and Turning Point USA co-chair speaks at local church in Harker Heights
HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas (KWTX) - Hundreds filled Vintage Church in Harker Heights tonight to get the chance to hear from Rob McCoy, Charlie Kirk’s pastor and Turning Point USA co-chair.
Daniel Hayworth, the lead pastor at Vintage Church in Harker Heights, says they’ve had a relationship with Pastor McCoy for years, inviting him to come and speak to their congregation.
Tonight’s event, courageous christianity, included worship, sermons from McCoy and senior pastor Stephen Martin, and even a Q&A.
Pastor Hayworth says over 800 people registered for tonight’s event, the purpose of which was to inspire people to be courageous in their faith.
“It’s specifically trying to encourage people and to motivate and challenge them to rise up and be light in the darkness and to share their faith courageously,” Hayworth said.
During Pastor McCoy’s sermon he remembered his time with Charlie Kirk, recalling the first time he prayed over Kirk.
“I laid hands on Charlie to pray for him, and it’s a room full of pastors and I get overwhelmed… thinking about it now. I get overwhelmed with the love that God the Father has for this man,” he shared.
Pastor McCoy’s son, Michael McCoy, also served as the chief of staff for Turning Point USA, sharing that his son was there with Charlie Kirk the day he was shot and killed.
