KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - On November 10, 2009, President Barack Obama visited Fort Hood to speak at a memorial service for the victims of a shooting rampage at the post’s Soldier Readiness Center.

On November 5, a U.S Army Major and psychiatrist opened fire at the center, fatally shooting 13 people and injuring more than 30 others.

During his speech, President Obama praised the victims for their service and said that the legacy of the dead will live beyond their “incomprehensible” slayings.

It remains the worst mass shooting at a military installation in U.S. history.
