Overnight fire damages Waco home; dog dies after failing to make it out

WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A dog died after failing to make it out of a Waco home that caught fire overnight, the fire department said.

The fire erupted at a home at 3317 Bagby at 1:07 a.m. and the first crew arrived at the scene at 1:10 a.m.

Firefighters encountered heavy flames from the home.

“Crews began an aggressive fire attack and brought the fire under control at 1:23 am,” the department said.

No injuries were reported by the occupants or fire personnel.

Unfortunately, a dog belonging to the family did not make it out of the home and died as a result of smoke inhalation.

The scene was cleared at approximately 3 a.m.
