WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A Waco man is fighting for his life after dogs attacked him while he was mowing a family member’s lawn.

Family members of Felipe Gonzales said he suffered brain bleeds from the attack Monday and is now in the I-C-U.

His daughters, Ana and Selene said Gonzalez was mowing his disabled uncle’s lawn on Dutton Ave.

However, they would have never guessed the good deed would lead him to the hospital.

“We want to get justice for him because he didn’t deserve it,” said Ana Gonzalez.

The Gonzalez’s said as their dad was working, he was unexpectedly attacked by five dogs.

They said in a panic, Gonzalez tried fighting the dog but fell on his back and hit his head.

Thankfully, a driver pulled over to help and called Waco police.

Gonzalez regrouped and finished the yard but became weak once he got home.

Yet, family members said Gonzalez didn’t mention the attack until he got home later that day.

“He’s such a hardheaded man, but he has a heart like no one else,” said Ana Gonzalez.

After complaining about head and backpain, he went to the hospital where family members learned he had severe brain bleeding, prompting emergency surgery.

“We know that he can hear us because we talk to him and he can wiggle his fingers and his toes. So, we know he’s fighting so hard for his life,” said Ana Gonzalez.

Waco Animal Services told News 10 there were three separate dog incidents that same day around the area, confirming the dogs are pets and were returned to their owners.

“We’re not here to blame anybody. But at the end of the day, somebody has to take responsibility. We don’t want anybody else to go through what he went through, especially with his age and health conditions,” said Ana Gonzalez.

The two said Gonzalez has been waiting to get on the liver transplant list for a while.

Now, his family is using faith while they wait for him to regain consciousness.

“We’re hopeful that he won’t give up, not yet. So, we just pray that he pulls through, even in his condition now,” said Ana Gonzalez.
