Suspect in smoke shop armed robbery targeted another business the next day, Killeen police say
KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - 7th Heaven Smoke Shop in Killeen said it is tightening up security measures after the store was robbed at gun point.
Owner Natasha Mayhorn told KWTX that a man entered the store wanting to buy a pipe at about 6 p.m. on Sept. 3.
He followed the store’s employee behind the counter, pulled out a gun and demanded money from the cash register.
“Horrible. I’m very insecure. I’ve been having mixed feelings. Do I even want to keep the store or do I want to let it go” They just took the money for our bills,” said Mayhorn.
Security footage shows the suspect forcing the employee to go into the back of the store before running away with $2,500.
Mayhorn said the employee ran out of the building fearing for her life and quit the next day.
She says she’s considering getting the young lady mental health services.
“My baby is distraught. She’s crying all night, she’s scared to come outside. She don’t know if she ever want to get a job, she is really terrified on life right now. She’s really thinking about moving out of Texas,” said Mayhorn.
Mayhorn says her stress grows from these setbacks.
Especially since she needs all the help she can get because her partner, who was the original store owner, is sick with a rare form of cancer.
“Either I close early or I can’t open. That’s where it puts me in a bind at. I got to go to Houston, he got to go to San Antonio, he has doctor’s appointments everywhere,” said Mayhorn.
Police said Thursday the same person is suspected in the robbery of another area business, and they need your help identifying him.
Mayhorn urges business owners to stay vigilant, or they could be the next target.
“We need to know exactly who he is, where he at, make sure no one else get it because there’s a lot of small stores over here,” said Mayhorn.
Police describe the suspect as a man between 5’09” to 5’11” with a medium build. He was wearing gray sweatpants with tan boots.
