Baylor storms past UCF in homecoming win

WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Baylor showed out for their homecoming crowd, snapping a two-game losing streak with a 30-3 beatdown over UCF on Saturday.
Entering Saturday, Baylor’s game against UCF was as close to a “must win” that the program has had in some time.
In the first quarter, the Bears put together an efficient 75-yard scoring drive capped off by a 13-yard touchdown pass from Sawyer Robertson to tight end Michael Trigg.
Baylor forced a punt on UCF’s first possession and later responded with Sawyer Robertson’s second touchdown pass of the day, a two-yard pass to Josh Cameron to extend the lead to 14-0.
After a stop in the red zone, Baylor added a 40-yard field goal to make it 17-0 early in the second quarter.
Hawkins would add another field goal with just under 2:30 left to play in the half to give the Bears a 20-0 lead.
Baylor tried to add points with under 20 seconds left in the half. Robertson’s pass was tipped leading to an interception that set the Knights up for a last second field goal before the half to bring the score to 20-3 going into halftime.
Hawkins, who finished the afternoon with three made field goals, was good from 41 yards in the third quarter, extending the lead to 23-3.
The Baylor defense shutout the Knights completely in the second half and recorded two interceptions in the fourth quarter.
DJ Coleman picked off his first pass of the year, returning it inside the 10-yard line. Several plays later, Robertson threw for his third touchdown of the day, hitting Kole Wilson on the run in the back of the end zone.
Later in the fourth, Jacob Redding grabbed his team high third interception of 2025, sealing the 30-3 victory.
The Bears improved to 5-4 overall, 3-3 in Big 12 play. They’ll enter their second idle week of the season and later return to McLane to host Utah on Saturday, November 15.
